>The 2008 season ends on Saturday, November 1st at our 10am clean up meeting. Please join us to help clear out beds and get the compost bins ready for the winter. Look for sign up information for next season in the winter Community Education brochure. Reopening April 2009!

>Saturday 10th- OPENING DAY- all members meet at 10am at the old school house for our opening meeting!

>Saturday 26th, WORKDAY- all members (and others!) come and help moving in soil! Bring shovels, and a wheelbarrow if you have them. 9am-12 noon. (you may also come at other times to help, it will take more than one day to do the job!)

Why is Saline called Saline? Where are the Salt Springs? Was the Lodi Academy the best school in Michigan? Who are the historic people named on Community Gardens plots?
These questions and more will be discussed, including Mastodon Hunters, Mound Builders, Potawatomi, French, English, American Pioneers, Blacks and Germans. We look at Saline's agriculture, business, roads and manufacturing. We want to compare the 21st century with the 19th.
There will be a Walking Tour of an old Saline Site, on a following Saturday or Sunday. (to sign up see the spring community ed guide, or go to salinecommunityed.com)

>June 16 9:30 a.m. - 12 noon Class at the Rec Complex - Cultivating Inner Peace: Yoga for Gardeners.
Class taught by Calesta Harrison ( $16 garden member, $20 rec center member, $24 non members)
A one day yoga workshop, in conjunction with Saline Community Garden, designed to give you an understanding of core strength and basic yoga skills (both mental and physical) for use by the home and community gardener. You will learn specific poses to help your body with the demands of gardening, and poses to promote peace and well-being in your home practice. Calesta will also include a flowing earth sequence, and hand outs to take this practice to your home and garden. Meditation, relaxation, and use of the breath will also be covered. It is a gentle class appropriate for those brand new to yoga!)
